Hello friends! The Gospel of Susie is the place to be if you love to laugh and you love to learn. Here you can be irreverent about the reverent.
You might be here because you saw me on MTV’s Road Rules or one of the Challenges. I was so lucky to do those shows–I got to travel the world, have incredible adventures, and pay for my education. Oh, and I got to invade your living rooms, and that’s pretty darn cool.
Now I’m a PhD in Religious Studies working as an independent scholar and journalist focusing on Christianity in the United States. I love the research and writing that I get to do, and I LOVE being able to do it all at home where I can watch my son bouncing off the walls.
In addition to my posts here, you can find my writing at Vox, Huffington Post, RELEVANT Magazine, and Salon. I am also very proud of my work with legendary activist, Jane Elliott, who created the famed Blue Eyes Brown Eyes exercise. I am working as a diversity trainer for organizations and businesses using Elliott’s techniques to combat prejudice.
This blog is designed to provide you with a different perspective on religion, politics, news, and spirituality. If you’re looking for a fresh perspective on American culture, then you’ve come to the right place. They say not to talk about religion and politics in polite company, so looks like we’re not going to be polite!
Let me know what you think!
P.S. You can also catch my fellow MTV alum, Sarah Rice, and me on our weekly show, the Brain Candy Podcast, which features even more goodies for anyone who loves to laugh and loves to learn. Subscribe to us on iTunes.
