Book Review: All At Sea

I love books, but I really love memoirs. There’s something about knowing that the story you’re reading actually happened that makes it more riveting. All at Sea by Decca Aitkenhead is no exception. Aitkenhead’s story begins with her family of four on vacation when her son runs into the ocean and begins to drown. Her partner runs in to rescue him, and in so doing he dies saving his son. THAT’S HOW THE BOOK STARTS!

The tragic beginning leads into Aitkenhead grappling with love, loss, grief, and relationships, and keeps the reader engaged through her journey towards peace. As someone who lives just blocks from the ocean and has a toddler, I could relate to the story’s details, but the larger themes are relatable to anyone who has ups in down with parenting, marriage, and life in general.

If you’re looking for a truly moving and inspirational true story, I highly recommend, All at Sea. Grab your copy here:
